Here is an email received from Ernest Williams (1955-60):
"I was a pupil of the Muni from 1955 – 1960 having been an abandoned war baby sent to foster care as a Banks boy and deposited in Wolverhampton courtesy of the men from the Ministry.
I am interested in re- trekking old ground for a biography I am writing, and Wolverhampton did absorb some five years of my life.
Does the Brewery still sponsor scholarships? I was in DG Outlaws 5th year.
Apart from the duty labour at New Hampton Road, I spent most of my personal time on the shroppie working tugboats and butties from Rugeley Power Station to the Concrete block yard, hauling 100 tons of ash per trip for 10/= pocket money.
Some holidays I spent nominally with the ancients in a New Forest cottage, or crewing yachts out from Lymington.
I left Wolverhampton as soon as the smog lifted enough to let me join the Navy rather than becoming an Engineering Apprentice.
Served in Antarctic Survey, Evacuation of Aden and having been knocked about a bit by the Yemenis, the University in Singapore and then Farming in Africa.
When Oom Bob made it difficult for Ex-Pats to make a small fortune in Zim, I converted my skills to Health Care and became a Researcher for Roche in Switzerland, before joining NHS as a consultant.
I have not returned to Wolverhampton since.
I have now retired but have been requested if I can do a short term Consultancy at New Cross Hospital
I would appreciate contact with the Old Pupils Assoc, maybe access to school records, Maybe tracking down old comrades, whilst I am resident in Wolverhampton. Not sure where I will be staying yet but maybe the Tetenhall area.
Are there any planned re-unions etc n the next few months, or where can I get access to the old school records.
Ernest L Williams"
I have his email address if anyone would like to make contact with him and offer some assistance. Please email the Webmaster
